Laying Around

Having the Black Suit (egads!) laying around from the previous posts and having received some beautiful new merchandise today I figured I would snap a shot of the black suit, burgundy and blue shirt, blood red/burgundy tie (new), and multicolored square (new).
Going forward I am going to devote the next few days/weeks shooting the new items and I will explain why I paired what with what. If I don't get a chance to work anything tomorrow, have a great weekend! :-)

Goes with Black

Some comment over on Ask Andy prompted this series of shots.

All of the shirts are shot with a black suit and the black based version of this square:

What is interesting is that you can look at the many colors of the square that I have in the last photo and get a feel for what will go against black.  Since there are so many colors in the square with a black field its safe to say that they all blend well with black.

Didnt shoot white which is a no brainer nor did I shoot grey which as I mentioned earlier is in the black family.

Textures 2

Just some more textures in different colors for the same jacket and shirt.  Snapped these pics on sunday, and havent been in the store in two days, buying for TuesdaysChild.com

Changed the square from the predominantly blue to the predominantly red to better work with the brown tie:

Just to give you a little idea of what different textures of almost the same color tie can do to the look of a jacket.

Some More Fall

Here are some more fall looks for you with that same Hickey Freeman Jacket, this time though with a grey twill shirt you have seen before

In some of these cases though I kept to typical ties with fall-like colors as opposed to textured wools.  Darker is usually considered more fall-like being more somber and all that, dont shoot me, thats just the way it usually is.)

The square was a nice Burgundy/Rust/Gold one with darkish colors that complement nicely the black of the jacket and you can see the detail here.  Pretty much every color in the square would work independantly with the jacket.



The tie used here is a blackish with a blue stripe tie from Petronius.  The hand on the Petronius and Attolini ties are simply wonderful.



A four fold (Italian Seven Fold) Attolini Tie with the charcoal grey field and a rusty burgundy stripe.



Burgundy as you know is a classic color which works well with most things (as does the ever so boring grey) Here is a burgundy cashmere silk blend.

Bulking Up with Fall

In the Children's Boutique we have been receiving Fall merchandise for about a month now.  One of the items was this Hickey Freeman His First sportscoat, a rich worsted wool houndstooth with a black base and a delicate medium blue check in it.  A beautiful piece that threw me off a little with regard to shirts so I tried some things:

First a Blue  Shirt:



And settled on the Lilac (but will probably tweak it a little tomorrow) .



Keeping with the colorations I kept a familiar square from this season that we had used before with grey's and burgundy highlights and a thicker weave tie that has a depth to it. The coat demands it. Here is what you get:



Swapping out the black tie with the lilac dots  for its burgundy brother (Both wonderful staple type ties) gives you this.



With heavy flannely fabrics like this you can easily and properly go with a textured wool type tie. The result when combining the coat/square and Tie (a cashmere and silk blend with a wonderful hand) was this:

The Backup Tie

So after deciding on square number 3 due to its vibrancy (as mentioned before this square and others of its ilk can probably go with most anything due to the colors it has)



Mr. Wedding guest was advised by Mrs. Wedding guest to take a tie just in case.  I like Mrs Wedding Guest.  :-).

My feeling though was that a very busy tie will play against the vibrant square and in light of the fact that it was a wedding albeit in California, we were best off with a more plain (relatively so as you will soon see) tie to work into the ensemble.

Here are my choices (and I add that we arent limited to these, they were what came to mind quickly and any form of blue against blue (lighter blue preferred) would work)
