Whats a paisley?

So it turns out that Paisley is a town in Scotland which is credited for its famous design, amoebas!

Whodduthunk?

That being said often people confuse paisleys with other floral patterns.

These are paisleys. Some are abstract with a non obvious pattern. Some are patterned. And the bottom Petronius is a neats pattern.

This is a nice tie.

But its not a paisley.



But forgetting about the fact that its not a paisley in name and pattern bear in mind that the paisley when done abstractly is good becaause it doesnt restrict to a clear pattern, and with a floral tapestry or brocade like the one above you effect the same thing (even if its not an amoeba).
