S10 Tie By Tie 2 (Inside the Box)

Another two newbies to the FIH Lineup. The Navy Blue version of the previous tie paired with the same shirt and suit. This combo as far as tie and shirt are concerned are a more inside the box go of the previous theme. To liven it up a bit I introduced the Pink and white border square.

In a bit of a rush so the links will have to wait till next week.

Have a great weekend!

S10 Tie By Tie 1 (Classic Colors)

Long Time readers will know that I am a big fan of the Brown and Blue combinations.

Shown here are two new additions to the FIH lineup for Spring 2010. Just in from Italy, a Brown slightly textured tie with blue and beige pin dots, shown against a light blue shirt and navy suit. The square is a blue linen with white contrast border.

Always a classic combination.

Now available online and with a new price of 50 for the regular and short and 55 for the extra long as a result of the dollars recent strength!

Tie By Tie 29b (Almost the Same yet Different)

Yet another full buying day in the city, this time for Dolce and Gabbana and Moncler. Yeah, they make them for kids. :-).

Carrying yesterday's ensemble forward but with a lilac colored shirt will give you a totally different  look. The lilac accentuates the plum colors in the tie.

Tie By Tie 29 (On The Fly)

The Buying season is winding down here with only a few more days in the city for the kids shop.  Meanwhile we have a whole new series of ties coming in tomorrow (Tuesday) but I wont get a chance to get to them till later in the week.

Posting now, on the fly from a Showroom in the city while the boss/Mom catches up on some paperwork for the orders:

Love this tie and have used it extensively in this blog.  Put both squares here to see which Iliked better and then ultimately went with the violet.  Shown today with the Ecru Shirt and Black Suit.

With the square in place.

And a little brighter which shows you the parts a little more clear.

PS:  Super sale time with an additional 10% On top of the already heavily discounted Colombo Cashmere Items on the site.  Now might be a great time to pick up a Cashmere coat for just over 600 Dollar.  Free Ground Shipping Too!

Tie By Tie 28 (Black and Lilac, FTW!)

Two days back I wrote about the soft and nice tie that worked well with a number of shirts due to its having a number of colors in it.

Today's post will show that sometimes soft is nice but not "as" nice. Here I show the same tie, with the grey check shirt and a black suit for better contrast.

For something different I swapped the purple check square for a green with purple paisley. (email for purchase Info)

Which looks like this:

And as we were talking Lilac with Black and Grey here is one more option, the Lilac Paisley Tie.

And in case you were wondering, FTW is the current web slang for For the Win! :-)

Have a great weekend all.

Da Plane, Da Plane!

Remember the opening scenes from Fantasy Island?  Da Plane Boss, Da Plane!  Anyway, last week I emailed a post from the lounge at Newark international as to what I was wearing on my flight to Italy.

Here is the breakdown and it included a Hickey Freeman Sportscoat, One of my blue shirts, the large painted paisley square, and a Zimmerli V-Neck Merino Sweater (available at CustomShirt1.com .

Here is the detail of the square.

I didnt wear a tie as it was travel but if I had to for any particular occasion I suspect that something like this wool striped tie would have been appropriate.

Shown here without the sweater.

And here is the youtube of the opening scene of Fantasy Island for you.  (Was it really 1978?????)

Tie By Tie 27 (Like Edelweiss)

Just like edelweiss, from the song in "The Sound Of Music" this particular tie is "soft yet nice" .   Available in the seven, and four fold s well as the regular construction.

As it has multiple colors in it, from grays to blues and lilacs, I chose to show it together with a grey shirt, a blue and finally a lilac as well. In real life the lilac short is not that strong. I just find lilacs a difficult color to photograph. In all cases, the charcoal suit with purple square is shown.

First the pale blue shirt:

With the square detail,

The grey check shirt:

And the lilac stripe:

Back to work

Been back since late Thursday early Friday AM but hit the ground running with a 70 year birthday for a 50 year old mom. Or at least she looks and works that way :-). Happy birthday mom, many more returns!

Finally got a chance to get back to the store last night and snap some photos of in house stuff but didn't get a chance to transfer to the pc and crop it so here are two shots taken from a window in Milan (viale piave). Again I am posting from email. Hopefully tonight I will get back to the pc (although I do have a wedding upstate so that's still up in the air)

I didn't snap any in the true designer windows of via della spiga (the famous shopping street) so these will have to do.

In the first shot I liked the blue shirt with the brown tie and the beige sweater. I have don't stuff likethis in the past and later I will link.

Here I thought that the light blue vest was commanding too much of the eye.

Have a great week!

PS: The new spring collection is on the way and it's nice! Plus we are toying with a new concept which we are excited about. Stay tuned!

Halfway There

4 days down 4 to go.

Here is what I wore today. Ties aren't really expected where I go to buy so the best I can do is pocket square.

Shown here with a Burberry jacket and white herringbone shirt with white and light blue pin stripes. The pic was taken with the iPhone so pardon the resolution and clarity.

Not really sure how to attach a link when posting via email so that will also have to wait till I can edit.

And here is the view from the porch (they call it a veranda :-) ) of the hotel room in Milan. Great hotel. Thank heavens for mileage!!!

Have a great week!

Miles To Go Before I Sleep

In London's Heathrow The "Best of the Best" had these two cars available in a raffle. I didn't inquire about the pricing but you can probably find out online.

While black and red work well together and are synonymous with the bold and fast colors of racing as in the Audi below I prefer the blue colors of the Porsche.

The best of both worlds? The lines of the Audi in the colors if the Porsche.

;-)

Have a great weekend.

Tie By Tie 26 (More "Just Ins")

Using the same sportscoat from last week I thought to show some more options which you can see here:

Oddly I didn't shoot this with the square in the pocket.  Not sure why ;-).  I like the blue shirt with the grey and the coffee brown tie with the grey jacket and it helps to pull the check in the jacket out as well.  All shown with the honey jar square.

Here with the pink twill tie.  I like this look

Not sure about this tie here.  Looked better when I was taking it but here in the pic it doesn't look that great.

Finally, a little Wintery coloration here with the dark satin based stripe.

Just a heads up, the buying season is getting hot and heavy and in fact I leave for Italy on Wednesday evening, so it may get a little spotty over the next few weeks, but I will do my best and will be back so don't give up on me :-)

Unabashed Plug here:  I have gone to some serious discounts on the cashmeres and other items on the FIH Site.  Cashmere coats, under 700 dollars, Scarves between 25-35% off.  Same with Cashmere Sweaters.  Check it out!
