The Brown Suit 2

Looking at the stats of this blog, the single most looked at and referred to post is the brown suit post.

The way I see it , if thats what they want then thats what they shall get :)

Here is a brown suit with a medium blue/grey stripe.  Paired with a contrast collar and cuff blue pin stripe shirt, matched with a beehive weave green and blue tie, green and Navy braces, and assorted color parasol square.

The result is in this:

What's with the Square?

Rounding out the Fall collection is a fabric that I did from a vintage brocade silk so its got texture and an interesting pattern as well.  Not too sure exactly (meaning I could have done better)  where I was going with the square but it was after a long day in the kids shop.  Shown here in three variations of shirt all with a Navy Pin Stripe suit.

More Scarves

Had a long day today, what about you?  The highlight and highpoint was winning the argument with my POS software people who after my paying for software upgrades for years and not using them I was told today that since I bought a new computer and it wasn't an old machine that I was updating it would fall into the category of additional machines and not updating machines.

My response was (after the initial scratching of the head)  that I couldn't update the machine without buying a new and more current PC because the new software wouldn't run on the old machines, therefore, in order to Update I had to add the machine.  They finally saw it my way.

Anyway, I tell you this to explain why I am merely posting some more scarves here and thats because I didnt have much time to set up and photograph something new, so I pulled from something that I photographed for the www.FourInHand.com site.

The first scarf is the natural combination against the caramel colored Cashmere coat from Colombo cashmere.   Its got enough contrast but it contains the elements that combine with the coat.  Browns, coffee, charcoal greyish tones.  Blackish tones.  Its a no brainer.

This second scarf works with the camel and brown and  in the undertones of the scarf.  The Royal Blue of the scarf gives an interesting spin on the look.

Where's the Bride?

Black Suit, White shirt, white linen square, and off white ties in two variations.

Simple, classy and very elegant.  Just add a bride and you are good to go.  Medium Paisley on a satin Field.

And the smaller paisley. More texture, less field. IMO, the satin field dresses up the tie.

Where silver works

So with all the talk about gold breaking the 1K barrier, we cannot forget that silver has been hitting highs as of late as well.

A few posts back I posted a silver tie only to follow up with the fact that the silver fell flat against the charcoal and grey shirt as there was not sufficient contrast.

Given that the case, here is the same tie against a white shirt and black suit.  The square is an off white, black and silver, that looks vibrant in real life but i need to (like alot of things) retake a picture of.

here is the square up close and personal:

For elegance of course its hard to beat the tried and true white square shownhere with another silver tie.

Monochrome done better

Looking at the last post I thought that the silver tie while being in the same color family and should therefore work, falls flat as it blends too much in color with the shirt.

Seeking out more contrast to get a little more pop with the tie you get something like this, )a wool solid charcoal grey tie):

True, I had swapped out the square for one with a little more color, but even without the colored square the darker tie does well alone.

Alternagtively here is dark grey (laced with brown and blue) with a splash of blue (the suit also has a splash of blue in there as well) tie.

Been There Round Two

Here are two more looks from the same jacket as yesterday that we did in the kids shop.

In both cases the square was added after for this site (we didnt do a square for the kids, except for in one instance and then I had to pull something from a private stash since the square had to fit into a size 6 kids jacket pocket.)

Here the burgundy shirt and rust tie work with high contrast against the black of the jacket.

And here the blue of the shirt and blue textured tie pick up on the blue stripe of the jacket.  Maybe tomorrow I will show you a closeup of the jacket and how the blue shows)

In all cases the square has all the right colors to match yet have some brightness to it.

Been there done that

A time ago, on the way out of my kids shop, I snapped three iffy"ish" pics of a beautiful black sportscoat from the Hickey Freeman His First line together with tie and shirt that I had paired.  The combo sold well, and here you see it with sportscoat.  The black coat has a blue stripe running through it which is why I put the light blue striped shirt in there as well.  Not that Black cant go with light blue, it can and does so well.  I just thought it so well matched.  Elegant and sharp.

The tie being burgundy and gold works into the black of the coat.  The square puts it all together with pretty mch all the colors combined.  A lovely square.

Here you get a close up of the colors in the square.

Seasons

Strange but true.  Lighter colors, seem to imply a sense of bright sun, freshness, outdoorsiness, hence the concept of Spring Colors (lighter, pastelly, fresher etc. ) exists.

By contrast, insert darker colors and get a sense of darkening skies, seriousness, Somberness and in general a more foreboding picture.

As far as seasons go I Personally prefer Fall. :-)

Here are some visuals on the concept. (Try to foget the fact that the suit is a flannelly wool.  I am trying to convey an idea.)

Grey and Brown around town

Grey as mentioned is a good versatile color.  It works well with blues, it works well with black it works werll with pretty much any and every color.

Here the suit itself is a grey and orangey brown.  I put it tiogether with the blue shirt and with the blue tie.  It looked nice before the lighting and digital camera hit it and then it looked like this:

Broken down like this (love the richness of the square):

Here is the same with the similarly hued tie.

Another Request

A customer wanted to know what to do with the following two ties so here goes:

The salmon tie goes with Black, with Navy, with Grey.

The Rose Pink as well.

Too tired to elaborate as it was a busy day including shoplifters in the store (Nabbed em on Video and filed a police report!)
